Space and satellite sector jet set for growth

In today’s connected world- space and satellite technology play a pivotal role in modern communication.
The òòò½Íøgovernment has earmarked this sector as one of the new industry clusters that it will focus on growing. The industry currently employs 1-000 people in 30 companies.
One way for local companies to grow in this sector is via A*STAR’s Technology for Enterprise Capability Upgrading (T-Up) scheme. The scheme provides local companies with research expertise by seconding A*STAR’s scientists- engineers and researchers.
Addvalue Technologies is one company that has benefited from this scheme. Formerly a Singapore-listed company focusing on consumer digital and broadband communications- Addvalue tapped A*STAR’s expertise and transformed itself to a company developing state-of-the-art satellite communication products for land-based- sea-based and space-based applications.
Addvalue now offers satellite comms solution systems- anechoic chamber - where antennas are designed and developed; and reliability test labs which simulate extreme weather conditions for the satellites.
Through this collaboration- Addvalue can tap on the researchers’ technical expertise and test-bed resources. At the same time- researchers and scientists gain exposure to industry problems- which can be used as the basis to develop future solutions in the industry.
Addvalue Technologies will launch a joint lab with A*STAR to develop enhanced satellite communication technologies that can link Addvalue’s products to smart devices.
