About World Metrology Day
World Metrology Day (WMD) is an annual celebration of the signature of the Metre Convention on 20 May 1875. This year in conjunction with WMD 2025, A*STAR’s National Metrology Institute (NMC), the national measurement institute of Singapore, along with the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), the designated institute for chemical metrology in Singapore, are organising a conference on 15 May 2025.
This year's theme "Measurements for all times, for all people" stands as a reminder on metrology’s enduring role in shaping innovation, ensuring accuracy, and fostering a sustainable future. 2025 also marks a historic milestone—150 years since the signing of the Metre Convention, a global agreement that laid the foundation for international measurement standards.
