QInC Cho Youngwook

Director, Quantum Sensing and Metrology

Dr. Young-Wook Cho joined A*STAR in 2023 and currently serves as a Director of the A*STAR Quantum Innovation Centre (Q.InC), where he leads the Quantum Sensing and Metrology (QSM) Pillar. He is an experimental physicist specilizing in quantum optics and quantum information. His research interests span a wide range of topics in quantum science and technology, including solid-state quantum memories and the generation, manipulation, and measurement of optical quantum states such as entangled photons, squeezed light, and their hybrid states.
 
Dr. Cho earned his B.S. and Ph.D degrees in Physics from POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) in Korea in 2007 and 2014, respectively. His PhD studies were supported by National Junior Research Fellowhip program by National Research Foundation of Korea. In 2014, he joined the Australian National University (ANU) as a postdoctoral research fellow. In 2016, he returned to Korea to continue his career at Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), where he received multiple honors, including 100 Excellent research awards in National R&D program, Excellent Research Team Award in KIST, KIST Researcher of the Year, Optical Society of Korea (OSK) Rising Stars 30, and the President’s Award from Korea National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST).
