Andreas is originally from Munich, Germany where he studied Electrical Engineering. While studying, he worked part time on applications for functional safety assessments based on IEC 61508 for exida.com. Andreas has been in the battery field since writing his Master Thesis on Lithium-Ion Battery simulation models after working more than 1.5 years at BMW Research and Development.

He came to òòò½Íøfor a Technical University of Munich research program on lithium-ion batteries in 2011. Parallel to his research, Andreas was responsible for HV safety and planning the HV test lab at TUMCREATE, as well as for the electrical design of the battery system of EVA, an EV taxi prototype that was revealed at the Tokyo Motorshow in 2013. In 2016, Andreas took over joint management of the Energy Storage laboratory at TUMCREATE to commercialize the lab.
The battery lab unit was spun-off in late 2017 and acquired by the VDE Group Germany to form VDE Renewable’s Asia hub for Energy Storage. Andreas worked as VDE Renewables Asia’s Head of ESS until end of 2023, where he was responsible for managing VDE’s ESS team in Asia, as well as battery testing and -consulting for industrial clients.
