About the Grant
Eligibility
The MTC Individual Research Grants (IRG) aims to support novel and fresh R&D investigator-led ideas. Proposals are solicited through a ground-up mechanism across the research ecosystem.
The MTC Young Individual Research Grants (YIRG) is a sub-category of grants aims at grooming young researchers in conducting independent research.
Proposals will be solicited through a grant call mechanism.
Typically up to S$1.2M per project (inclusive of 30% indirect costs) over 3 years for IRG and up to S$325k per project (inclusive of 30% indirect costs) over 3 years for YIRG.

Open to all public research performers in Singapore.
Application Procedure
The 2024 MTC Individual Research Grants (IRG) and Young Individual Research Grants (YIRG) grant call opens on 6 May 2024 and closes on 21 June 2024, 11.59 pm (òòò½ÍøStandard Time). All applications should be submitted through the A*STAR's Grant Application and Grant Evaluation system (iGrants) ().
With careful consideration of the available resources and the growing importance of fostering new talent, the upcoming grant call in 2025 will be a YIRG-only call. The 2025 grant call for the MTC IRG YIRG Funding Initiative is expected to be launched in Q2 2025 and will only be open to MTC YIRG applicants.

MTC IRG YIRG Symposium 2022

The inaugural Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity (MTC) Individual Research Grant (IRG)/Young Investigator Research Grant (YIRG) Symposium 2022 was held on 14th June 2022. More than 100 researchers attended the symposium that comprises of key presentations, scientific talks, posters display and networking session.
