INDUSTRY ALIGNMENT FUND - PRE-POSITIONING PROGRAMME (IAF-PP)

About the Grant

Applications should be emailed directly to the respective secretariats (see below for application procedure and materials).

To develop industry-ready capabilities to deepen alignment of public sector research, as well as multidisciplinary and integrated programmes with early industry involvement.

Programmes are expected to lead to industry participation within 3-5 years. This encompasses new programmes, as well as existing programmes that have demonstrated strong track record of success and industry potential. Programmes supported should be aligned with HHP or MTC domain themes and strategies. The maximum duration of IAF-PP projects should not exceed 5 years (60 months).

Key Criteria: Potential for industry development and economic impact.

IAF-PP is governed by a Strategic Oversight Committee (SOC), and comprises CEO A*STAR, MD EDB and CEO NRF. The SOC makes decisions on all IAF-PP policies and programmes and is co-chaired by CEO A*STAR and MD EDB.

All submitted applications are subject to technical and commercial considerations, and to the final evaluation and assessment by the IAF-PP SOC.

Eligibility

Programme Director should:

  • hold at least 0.7 FTE primary appointment in a òòò½Íøpublicly funded research or tertiary education;
  • run a laboratory or research programme that carries out research in Singapore; and
  • have a track record of leadership ability in coordinating research programmes and providing mentorship to research team, as well as having productive research outcomes.

Application Procedure

Applicants are invited to submit their IAF-PP Letter of Intent (LOI) to HHP IAF-PP Secretariat or MTC IAF-PP Secretariat. 

Applications are accepted throughout the year but will be evaluated on a quarterly basis. The quarterly LOI submission deadlines are as follows:

HHP IAF-PP
  • 25 April 2025 (Friday), 1200h
  • 7 July 2025 (Monday), 1200h
  • 3 September 2025 (Wednesday), 1200h
  • 31 December 2025 (Wednesday)
 MTC IAF-PP
  • 21 April 2025 (Monday), 1200h
  • 11 July 2025 (Friday), 1200h
  • 6 October 2025 (Monday), 1200h
  • 31 December 2025 (Wednesday)

Please note that applications for MTC IAF-PP FI should be submitted by 31 March 2025, to be in time for award within RIE2025. While applications can still be submitted after 31 March 2025, these applications might not be evaluated and awarded in time by the end of RIE2025 and the applications may need to be re-submitted in RIE2030 based on the new funding guidelines.

Important Note:

  • Applicants must use the latest version of the LOI template that can be downloaded below.
  • All applications must be endorsed by the Research Office of the Programme Lead’s Institution.
  • All applications must be complete and include all necessary supporting documents (e.g. endorsements and Letters of Support).
  • Incomplete applications or applications that deviate from the template will delay the evaluation process.
