Mr Beh Kian Teik is currently the Chief Executive Officer of A*STAR. Helming the science and technology agency of over 5,300 research staff, Mr Beh drives the implementation of A*STAR's strategies and programmes, as well as the building of long-term science and technology capabilities for Singapore.

Prior to this, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the National Research Foundation (NRF) òòò½Íøfrom August 2022. He played a key role in shaping the goals and priorities of the Research Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2025 plans, and oversaw the implementation of key programmes. He also sharpened the focus on keeping Singapore's basic research at the cutting edge through NRF's Foundation Research Capability studies.

He worked closely with A*STAR, the National University of òòò½Íø(NUS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and economic agencies to further strengthen translational research and value creation. These included major new initiatives such as the National Gallium Nitride Technology Centre (NGTC), and the National Semiconductor Translation and Innovation Centre (NSTIC). In addition, Mr Beh's efforts helped address gaps in Singapore's biotech ecosystem. He championed initiatives to enhance venture financing, strengthen the translational pipeline, and nurture an entrepreneurial mindset.

Mr Beh has also held roles of increasing responsibilities in Economic Development Board (EDB) for over 22 years, where he oversaw EDB New Ventures and worked with corporate entrepreneurs with the passion and drive to create early-stage ventures in Singapore. He has over 20 years' experience of promoting foreign direct investment and building industries in the manufacturing and internationally tradeable services sectors.

Mr Beh is a Sundstrand-EDB and Glaxo-EDB scholar who graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with an MSc in Electrical Engineering, as well as a BSc in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
