BILATERAL WORKSHOP ON MARITIME AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS

A*STAR’s National Metrology Centre and Institute of High Performance Computing participated in a bilateral workshop on Maritime Autonomous Systems (MAS) from 6 to 9 February 2023.

Co-organised by National Physical Laboratory, UK (NPL) and Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, òòò½Íø(TCOMS), the workshop also saw attendance from UK and òòò½Íømaritime organisations. An evening reception was held at the British High Commissioner’s residence, Eden Hall at the end of the workshop on 9 February.
The workshop sets the foundation of mutual understanding on the needs of assurance models, technical standards, test capabilities and their regulatory acceptance for MAS to enable their international adoption.
A future research programme will be built upon the workshop outcomes to develop assurance frameworks and test capabilities for maritime autonomous technologies and vessels.
