A*STAR IHPC showcased ADimaster — an AI-powered digital solution that allows patients to monitor their skin from home. With a photo taken using a smartphone, users can receive a diagnosis within seconds, empowering them to manage their condition with ease and efficiency.
Dr Jayne Thompson, Senior Principal Scientist, Materials Science & Chemistry Department joined a panel discussion on Meet Early Adopters for Quantum Computing in Finance and Biotech.
Dr Rick Goh, Director of the Computing & Intelligence Department presented a talk on leveraging AI to support Singapore’s ageing population and improve treatment and patient care delivery in the AI Applications in Healthcare (Masterclass).

RISE-IHPC-VTT inked MoU for VWT Entity Exploration

Following the VWT Prototype demonstration at the Maritime Week 2024, RISE, A*STAR's IHPC and VTT came collaboratively to investigate the prerequisites for an independent and neutral entity to carry and further the Virtual Watch Tower (VWT) - a cargo owner driven and terminal centric initiative, to tackle common issues in international supply chains.

Maritime Week (SMW) 2024

Organised by the Maritime Port Authority of (MPA), the Maritime Week (SMW) is an annual flagship event, bringing together global maritime leaders, and industry enthusiasts to discuss key issues, latest trends and opportunities facing the industry today and tomorrow.
On 16 April, A*STAR and Seatirum signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore research opportunities in new energies and artificial intelligence (AI) to develop innovative products and engineering solutions for the Offshore and Marine (O&M) sector. Read the full .

Dr Su Yi, Executive Director at A*STAR's IHPC presented A*STAR's IHPC capabilities under the Maritime AI Research Programme titled 'AI Route Optimisation'. Additionally, he also moderated a panel discussion focused on data sharing to foster open innovation, a critical step towards transformative industry advances.
From 16-18 April 2024, SMW featured a new trade exhibition, EXPO@SMW to showcase state-of-the-art technologies and the latest offerings in solutions and services to support the industry’s transformation and sustainability journey to achieve a net-zero future. A*STAR has participated as an exhibitor and showcased capabilities to advance maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation.

New Member Onboard Maritime AI Research Programme

The surge in maritime big data and the demand for AI solutions in the maritime industry bring challenges such as managing diverse data, achieving system interoperability, and navigating regulatory compliance.
In response to these challenges, the Maritime AI Research Programme has welcomed a new industry partner - NCS Group. Through collaboration with A*STAR's Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), the team will co-develop advanced capabilities for smart port and maritime services. This includes the development of AI-based marine traffic models to predict navigational behaviours of nearby vessels, thereby enhancing situational awareness and offering decision support for smart pilotage operations and services.
“As we navigate the complexities of the maritime industry, the influx of big data and the burgeoning need for AI solutions present challenges that demand innovative and collaborative efforts. Together with the expertise and resources brought by NCS, we look forward to a fruitful partnership where a collaborative spirit redefines the possibilities within the maritime landscape,” said Dr Yi Su, Executive Director at A*STAR’s IHPC.
