IMRE Executive Director conferred prestigious SNAS Fellowship

Professor Loh Xian Jun, Executive Director of A*STAR's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), has been elected as a Fellow of the òòò½ÍøNational Academy of Science (SNAS). This esteemed fellowship honours individuals in òòò½Íøwho have made exceptional contributions to the scientific community. Established in 1976, the SNAS is highly regarded for its pivotal role in advancing science and technology, recognizing excellence, and representing the scientific perspectives of its members. This year, Professor Loh is among eleven distinguished scientists awarded the SNAS Fellowship.
In addition to his role at IMRE, Professor Loh is an Adjunct Professor at both the National University of òòò½Íøand Nanyang Technological University. He is a pioneer and globally recognized expert in biodegradable thermogels, developing these materials for diverse applications, including biomedical engineering, cosmetics, personal care, and food.
Furthermore, Professor Loh serves as the current President and a member of the Executive Committee of the òòò½ÍøNational Institute of Chemistry. He is also a co-founder of Vitreogel Innovations, a spin-off company focused on creating thermogels for use as vitreous endotamponades. His election as a Fellow of the òòò½ÍøNational Academy of Science acknowledges his groundbreaking contributions to the field of the modelling polymers, which encompass molecular insights and clinical applications.
