Upon Completion of Each Module

Participants will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) certificate for each individual module, if they meet the following criteria:

• Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
• Take all assessments; and
• Pass the course.

The individual modules offered under the Mechatronics specialisation are:

• Mech M1 : Design Precision Machines (42 hours)
• Mech M2 : Develop Machine Health Monitoring Techniques (42 hours)
• Mech M3 : Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (45 hours)

Pre-Requisites

• Applicants should possess a degree in any discipline or a diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related working experience.
  
• Applicants who do not have the required academic qualifications are still welcome to apply, but shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview for special approval.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

LONG TERM VISIT PASS PLUS (LTVP+) HOLDERS

• The LTVP+ scheme applies to lawful foreign spouses of òòò½ÍøCitizens with (i) at least one òòò½ÍøCitizen child or are expecting one from the marriage, or at least three years of marriage, and (ii) where the òòò½ÍøCitizen sponsor is able to support the family.
•  All LTVP+ holders can be identified with their green visit pass cards, with the word ‘PLUS’ printed on the back of the card.

INTRODUCTION

This highly practical course provides participants with the fundamentals of the basic precision engineering principles and the state-of-the-art concepts for achieving high precision and accuracy in machines and products. The course covers the applications of the key mechanical components and practical approaches for machines and mechanisms design and analysis. Case studies are included to help participants to gain the knowledge for addressing the real-world industrial needs.

What You Will Learn

• Aware the design methods for suppressing static and dynamic effects in machine structures
• Apply practical techniques for minimising thermal distortion

Introduction

This module covers the principles and techniques for monitoring machine health and controlling vibration in equipment and machineries. Techniques of signal extraction, fault diagnosis and prognosis will be introduced. Case studies will be included for enhancing the knowledge in vibration analysis and condition monitoring for machine structures and rotating machines. At the end of this module, participants are expected to be equipped with critical competencies in dealing with issues that affect effectiveness and precision capabilities of machines and equipment.

Introduction

This module aims to teach participants the knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) controls used in parts and assemblies design. Practical sessions are provided to enhance the understanding of the critical concepts. Upon completion of this module, the participants are expected to be able to inspect parts defined in GD&T.
